Spinal Muscular Atrophy Support UK

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Support UK is a national UK charity. We provide a range of information and support to families and health professionals as well as promoting and supporting research. We employ a small staff and rely on a huge network of volunteers to assist us with our support and fundraising. We are governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees.

We offer free confidential information, emotional support, practical advice and guidance to anyone affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy who is living in the UK.

We fund and support the research community addressing the causes, treatment and management of SMA.

Each year up to 2,000 families and professionals contact Spinal Muscular Atrophy Support UK for advice on living with SMA. We receive no government funding and rely on public support to keep our vital services running. We would be very grateful for your help.

Where Next Association

People with learning difficulties want the same as everyone else... By supporting us you can help to provide a wonderful environment in which they can have purpose, dignity, self esteem and respect. We provide this by giving them an opportunity to have realistic work experience, giving them the chance to do things most people take for granted.

Established in 1984, Where Next Association is a local charity providing work experience and training for people with learning disabilities or those disadvantaged in some way.

We support individuals of all ages with varying abilities to experience work in a real commercial environment with real customers providing opportunity to mix with the local community.

Support is provided by qualified staff in a safe environment. All our staff are DBS checked. You may choose to attend different units and hours are arranged to suit.

As an accredited centre we offer person-centred training programmes and ASDAN certificated courses. By monitoring, recording and reviewing people’s progress we are able to tailor them to the individual.

Everyone can choose to take part in activity events. These may support literacy, numeracy, work-related training or life skills. Social events are also organised just for fun!

Camphill Foundation UK

Camphill Foundation provides much-needed financial support to projects which greatly enhance the quality of life of adults, children and young people with learning disabilities. Camphill communities throughout the UK and Ireland offer safe and supportive environments in a variety of semi-rural and urban settings where individuals can feel at home and develop their personal abilities and interests. There is also a strong sense of belonging to a diverse but cohesive intentional community and supported living network. Work opportunities abound, giving a real sense of meaning, purpose and achievement, which is essential for a person’s well-being.

Camphill Foundation supports development projects such as the building of new accommodation, establishing new workshops and facilities, developing agricultural and horticultural activities, providing new equipment, and various educational, training, cultural and social initiatives. Support is often in the form of grants to help projects get started and loans at a low rate of interest, usually over several years.

Supporting Camphill Foundation means also fostering a new understanding and recognition of people with disabilities and enabling them to develop and make use of their astonishing talents and skills as fully engaged, talented and co-responsible members of the community carrying out important and meaningful work which is both fulfilling for them and of great value to others.
